About Mela Nordic
Short description
Mela Nordic is a South Asian cultural organisation in the Nordics, founded in 2025 in Sweden. It celebrates the art and culture of the subcontinent and brings South Asian human-rights and political questions to wider attention.
Longer description
Mela Nordic was started in 2025 by a group of South Asians living in Sweden who felt that South Asian art and culture lacked visibility in northern Europe. The association organises concerts, film screenings, book talks, workshops and festivals in Malmö, Lund and Stockholm, including Malmö’s first South Asian festival at Folkets Park in 2025. It works for a community where cultural diversity is celebrated, against hate and communal division, and for human dignity.
