On 1 March 2025 Mela Nordic screened the documentary Aurat March (Women’s March): Why We Protest at STPLN in Malmö, as part of the Malmö Feminist Festival.
The film follows the Aurat March, the women’s march that has brought thousands onto the streets of Pakistan’s cities to demand rights, safety and equality. After the screening the audience stayed for an open discussion about the film and about women’s movements in South Asia and here in Sweden.
It was one of Mela Nordic’s first public events, and a good example of what we want to do: show strong South Asian films and make room for conversation.
